LABT Project
The Aim
The main aim of the Lithuanian Academic Libraries Network (LABT) is to develop an information technology based on the Lithuanian integrated scientific and study information space, combining traditional and e-libraries, e-publishing, information search and its supply to users, and providing virtual service to employees of Lithuanian science and study institutions, students, citizens and other e-systems.
Tasks
LABT is maintained and developed as Lithuanian Science and Study Integrated Information Environment Development task of Lithuanian Virtual University (LVU) program. For more effective performance of this LABT task by employing not only comman finances of LVU and structural funds of the European Union but also and the institutional assets as well.
On the 26th of March, 2010, the Consortium of the Lithuanian Academic Libraries for the Maintenance and Development of an Information Infrastructure for Scientific and Studies was established by the assignment of the LVU Council and assent of the conference of the rectors of Lithuanian universities. The Consortium was signed by the authorities of 31 Lithuanian schools of higher education establishment agreement. The general meeting of Consortium confirmed Vilnius University as a Consortium administering institution for the period of 2010-2011 which, together with the other the LABT activities, will realize the eLABa maintenance and development. The general meeting of Consortium reconfirmed Vilnius University as a Consortium administering institution for the period of 2012-2013 in the end of 2011.
